About our nutrition practice

Nutrition Pathway Book is an online nutrition practice based in the United Kingdom, working with adults and families by video. Every plan you receive is written by a person who has spoken to you.

The practice, at a glance

Who carries the consultation

  • Registered nutritionists Video
  • Degree-level training Nutrition science
  • Association for Nutrition Public register
  • Family and household work Parents present

The same nutritionist usually stays with you across follow-ups, so you are not repeating your history each time.

Who you will speak to

A named practitioner, with a registration you can check

Consultations are carried out by registered nutritionists with degree-level training in nutrition science and current registration with the Association for Nutrition. That registration is the difference between a nutritionist and someone who has completed a weekend course and printed a certificate. You can check a registration number on the Association for Nutrition's public register.

We are not dietitians. Dietitians are regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council and work in clinical settings with enteral feeding, renal diets, and diagnosed eating disorders. When a case belongs with a dietitian, we refer you rather than stretch our scope.

Registration, not a certificate

Current Association for Nutrition registration means a public record exists for the person writing your plan. You do not have to take our word for it.

Where our scope stops

Clinical dietetics sits with dietitians. If your case needs enteral feeding, a renal diet, or eating-disorder care, we say so early and point you to the right service.

One practitioner through the work

You are not passed between desks. The same nutritionist usually keeps your history, which makes the second and third conversation shorter and more useful.

Why the practice is online only

The consultation happens where your food is

We started online because the people who most need a conversation about food are often the ones who cannot get to an appointment. Shift workers, parents of young children, and people in areas with long NHS waiting lists. Video removes the travel time, which makes an evening slot after a late shift genuinely possible.

It also means your consultation happens where your food is. You can hold up the actual packet from your cupboard and read the label together. That is not something a clinic room allows, and it turns a lot of abstract advice into something concrete.

How we decide

UK guidance, adapted to what you actually eat

Recommendations follow UK guidance from the NHS, NICE, and the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition, and we adapt it to what you eat and can afford. Where guidance is clear, we say so. Where the evidence is mixed, we say that too, and we tell you what we would do in your position.

We do not have a house diet to sell. There is no branded programme, no proprietary supplement line, and no commission from any product. If a client does better on a Mediterranean-style pattern and another does better with a lower-carb approach, both are on the table if they are safe and sustainable.

What guides the advice

Published UK guidance

NHS, NICE, and the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition set the baseline. We quote it where it applies and explain the reasoning rather than hand over a rule list.

Honest about mixed evidence

A lot of nutrition headlines come from small studies that never get repeated. When a client asks about something they have seen in the news, we look at the study size and the population before giving an opinion.

Patterns, not a single house diet

Mediterranean-style eating and lower-carb approaches both appear in our work. What decides is whether the pattern is safe for you, affordable where you shop, and sustainable past the first fortnight.

Nothing to sell you

No brand pays us, so the plan does not have to point at a product. Where a supplement is worth taking, we say which nutrient and why, and leave the shop to you.

What we will not do

No promised numbers, no detox plans, no working around your GP

We do not promise weight loss numbers, and we will not set a target that ignores how you actually live. We do not recommend detoxes, cleanses, alkaline diets, or any plan that requires buying a specific brand to work. Those are not nutrition, and we would rather lose the booking than sell them.

  • Not weight-loss numbers on a timescale
  • Not detoxes, cleanses, or alkaline diets
  • Not a plan that only works with one brand
  • Not kidney disease, complicated pregnancy, or diagnosed eating disorders without your medical team involved

That last point is not a formality. If you have kidney disease, are pregnant with complications, or have a diagnosed eating disorder, we ask you to involve your medical team, because it changes what a safe plan looks like.

How the practice is set up

A small practice, not a marketplace

Booking and continuity

You book with us directly rather than through a directory. The same nutritionist usually stays with you across follow-ups, which means you are not repeating your history each time. Appointments run Monday to Saturday, with early and late slots for people working shifts.

Email is how we schedule and confirm. You keep copies of everything we send: the plan, the follow-up notes, and the reasoning behind them.

Records and privacy

Notes from your consultation are stored securely and separately from this website. Nobody outside the practice sees them without your written agreement, except where the law requires otherwise, which is covered in the Privacy Policy.

Keeping knowledge current

The reading never stops, and neither does the scepticism

Registered nutritionists complete continuing professional development each year, and ours covers clinical topics, behaviour change, and the parts of nutrition science that keep moving. We are honest about the limits of that reading.

The gut microbiome

Fibre variety and fermented foods come up often. The honest position is that many findings are early, so we adjust what is on the plate rather than promise a change you will feel within a week.

Time-restricted eating

Useful for some, unhelpful for shift workers whose eating window moves with the rota. We test whether a narrower window fits your week before recommending it.

Protein and age

Protein needs shift as we get older, and appetite often shrinks at the same time. We look at what you already eat in a day, then adjust portions and timing rather than rebuild the whole diet.

Families and households

One person cooks, the whole household eats the result

A large share of our work is family nutrition, usually because one person cooks and the whole household has to eat the result. We look at the meals already in rotation, then adjust them: more vegetables in the base, a protein added to breakfast, a different snack within reach after school.

For children, we work alongside parents and encourage a GP or health visitor review where growth is a concern. We do not put children on restrictive diets, and we do not treat weight in under-18s without medical oversight.

Referrals and your GP

You do not need a referral. You do not lose your GP either.

If you are on medication that interacts with food, such as warfarin or levothyroxine, tell us and tell your GP what we have suggested. Where a blood test would answer a question about iron, B12, or thyroid function, we ask your GP rather than guessing from symptoms.

We keep the medical side of the picture in view at all times. A nutrition plan that ignores what your GP is managing is not a plan, it is a risk.

Talk to us before you decide

If you are unsure whether your situation fits what we do, write first. We will tell you honestly whether a consultation with us is the right next step, or whether your GP or a dietitian is the better route.
